BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A company is investing millions of dollars in expanding its original facility in St. Elena.
Southland Steel Fabricators, 251 Greensburg St., “invested $25 million to add 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space and acquire cutting-edge welding technology,” according to a news release from Louisiana Economic Development.
“Southland Steel Fabricators is excited to begin this next phase of growth at our original facility in Greensburg,” said Southland President and CEO Joey Lombardo.
The expansion is expected to increase robotic welding capacity by 50% and double the facility’s material handling capabilities to meet growing demand for manufactured steel.
Eighty direct new jobs are expected to be created over the next three years with an average annual salary of $60,000, according to Southland Steel Fabricators Inc. LED said the project is expected to create 117 indirect new jobs.
Construction is expected to begin in mid-2025 and continue into next year.
