Plans to build a three-bedroom house on a County Durham street have been approved by the council.
The development, proposed by Shaun Luke and represented by Silas Willoughby of Planning by Design, is to be built on the site of the former 156 Collingwood Street, Coundon.
The site, currently disused but formerly residential, is located on the south side of Collingwood Street, close to a mix of two-storey houses, bungalows, a Sainsbury’s and a small shopping complex.
Durham County Council approved the plans on October 16.
The house will be set back one meter from the road and have two off-street parking spaces located in tandem on the west side.
A combination of wooden fence and brick wall will enclose the side garden.
The ground floor will be built of brick, and the upper floor will be plastered. The designs also feature a gable roof and large windows.

Sustainable features such as an electric vehicle charging point and bird boxes to improve biodiversity will be integrated into the building.
The site has a history of unapplied residential planning approvals dating back to 2003 and 2008.
These previous plans never came to fruition, although they received permission.
The new proposal was assessed against the Durham County Plan and the National Planning Policy Framework, with an emphasis on sustainable design, brownfield use and residential amenity.
It has been supported by CDP Policy 6 for Unallocated Sites and Policy 29 for Sustainable Design and meets the SPD Residential Amenity Standards.
Local residents raised no objections while statutory consultants, including the Highways and Environmental Health Authority, recommended conditions on parking, noise and construction hours.
The development must be completed within three years and adhere to approved plans, with additional conditions relating to potentially contaminated land and the provision of material details prior to construction.
The house will cover an area of 186 square meters, using brick and plaster for walls, double-glazed windows and a tiled roof.
