Wilmington man faces drug charges after traffic stop – WWAY NewsChannel 3

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop.

On Oct. 31 at approximately 9:45 p.m., Wilmington Police Departments initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of ​​North Kerr Avenue and Birchwood Drive for a light tag and seat belt violation.

The driver has been identified as 42-year-old Walter McPherson III of Wilmington.

After searching the vehicle, officers found more than 30 grams of crystal methamphetamine, more than a gram of crack cocaine, Xanax dosage units and fentanyl.

McPherson was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Cocaine PWIMSD, Felony, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling Controlled Substance, Possession of a Synthetic Cannabinoid and Possession of Narcotics.

He is being held at the NHSO Detention Center without bond.
