There will be 70,000 appointments available each week at UK supermarket pharmacies.

Tesco pharmacies will offer free NHS flu shots to over-65s and other eligible groups.

Those not eligible for a free flu jab can instead pay £16 for the Private Flu Jab Service – available to customers aged 12 and over.

How to book your NHS flu shot at Tesco pharmacies

If want to book an appointment for a flu shot this winter at Tesco pharmacies, visit the website and choose a time slot that works for you.

The flu shot will be given by a Tesco pharmacist in a private consultation room.

The service enables shoppers to get vaccinated at a time that suits them, as supermarkets’ pharmacies have longer opening hours than many GP surgeries and mainstream pharmacies.

Evening and weekend hours are available and you can even combine getting your flu shot with your weekly food shop.

Tesco pharmacists are hoping to encourage more of those who would benefit from a free vaccination to get a flu shot.

Adrian Price, Tesco’s chief pharmacist, said: “We want to make getting your injection as easy as doing your weekly shopping.

“More than ever, it will be important that your family is safe and well from the flu. You will reduce the risk of catching the flu and passing it on to older or more vulnerable family members.”
