Lubbock, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – The Buddy Holly Center invites the community to participate in Lubbock’s First Friday Art Trail on Friday, November 1, 2024 First Friday Art Trail is a program of LHUCA (The Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts). Held on the first Friday of every month at venues around town, galleries, restaurants and businesses are open FREE to showcase local and regional visual and performing arts. The First Friday Art Trail works to promote art and outreach to the Lubbock community by providing an opportunity to enjoy fine art and entertainment.

The Buddy Holly Center’s featured exhibit is Celebrationthe annual art exhibit that explores the history and meaning behind the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertosor Day of the Dead.
This exhibition features works by local and regional artists who were invited to create an expression of their interpretation of Dia de los Muertos by honoring deceased ancestors, friends and family members. Artists are not limited by their choice of media or content, but are asked to focus on the unifying theme of the age-old Mexican ritual of commemorating the death of a loved one.
Over 40 artists contributed to this year’s colorful exhibition. Celebración continues in the Fine Arts Gallery until November 17, 2024.
