Is Rachaad White playing this week? Injury update, Buccaneers RB fantasy outlook ahead of Week 7 vs. Ravens – Sports News

The Buccaneers had one of the deepest bullpens in the league this season.

Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker played important roles for Tampa Bay in certain games, but after rushing for 990 yards in 2023, Rachaad White continues to be the biggest name in his team’s ground game.

However, heading into the Buccaneers’ Week 7 game against the Ravens, White was dealing with injury concerns.

Will White be on Monday Night Football this week? Here are the latest updates on the running back’s injury status, a look at Tampa Bay’s depth chart at the position and White’s fantasy outlook.

Is Rachaad White playing this week? Buccaneers RB Injury Update

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, White will play in Monday’s game against the Ravens.

White was questionable all week as he dealt with a leg injury and did not play in Week 6, the Buccaneers’ 51-27 win over the Saints.

Both Irving and Tucker rushed for at least 80 yards and found the end zone in the win, raising further questions about which of the team’s running backs will lead the backfield. However, head coach Todd Bowles said this week that the team plans to “run the hot hand” between its three running backs, White, Irving and Tucker.

The Buccaneers’ practice report listed White as a limited participant on Thursday and Friday, while he was a full participant on Saturday. Having an extra day to prepare for Monday’s game has benefited White and he is officially ready for Week 7.

Buccaneers RB depth chart

Rank Player
1 Rachad White
2 Bucky Irving
3 Sean Tucker
4 Chase Edmonds (IR)

#1: Rachaad White

White led the Buccaneers’ backfield in 2023, recording nine total touchdowns, but his role diminished this season as the team became more of a committee.

Irving was already splitting time with White, but with Tucker’s huge performance in Week 6, all three Buccaneers running backs could see back-to-back snaps. White remains a strong pass catcher, but averaged just 3.7 yards per carry in 2024.

#2: Bucky Irving

Irving, a rookie taken in the fourth round last April, leads Tampa Bay with 328 rushing yards this season.

He was an effective option (5.7 yards per carry) through six games and will continue to be a big figure in the Buccaneers’ passing game moving forward.

#3: Sean Tucker

Tucker had seen just two carries this season before Week 6, but with White out, he exploded for 136 yards rushing, 56 yards receiving and two touchdowns against New Orleans.

The massive performance likely earned Tucker more playing time as Tampa Bay turns to a three-player committee.

#4: Chase Edmonds

A knee injury ended Edmunds’ 2024 season before it began as he was placed on IR prior to Week 1.

The seventh-year veteran is sidelined for now, but could help the Buccaneers if he returns in 2025.

Rachaad White fantasy prospect Week 7

Through his first five games, White’s role has already diminished compared to his production in 2023. With Bowles’ comments about “refraining from the hot hand” at running back between White, Irving and Tucker, he could be even more limited going forward .

The Whites will play in Week 7, but there are (or were) probably better fantasy running back options. Not only will White split snaps with two other running backs, but he makes a tough matchup against a Ravens defense that allows the fewest yards per carry (3.0) in the NFL ever.

It’s safer to bench White this week because of split carries, but the talent on the Buccaneers’ offense could give him some scoring opportunities. White likely falls into RB4 territory as a touchdown-dependent option due to his previous leg injury, expected split in the backfield and poor ground game against Baltimore’s defense.
