A man has been arrested after a burglary at the home of England cricket captain Ben Stokes in County Durham, police said.
Stokes said his wife and two children were at their house in Castle Eden at the time of the break-in on October 17 when his OBE and other valuables were taken.
Durham Police said a 32-year-old man from North Yorkshire was arrested on suspicion of burglary overnight.
He has since been bailed pending investigations.
Stokes was in Pakistan for Test cricket on the night of the incident.
He said the stolen items included the medal he received when he was made an OBE in the 2020 New Year Honors for helping England win the World Cup the previous year.
Describing the break-in on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account, Stokes posted images of the items stolen from his home.
The pictures include a Christian Dior bag, a gold ring with England cricket insignia and bracelets.
“The worst thing about this crime is that it was committed while my wife and two young children were in the house,” Stokes wrote.
“Fortunately, no one in my family was physically harmed. However, it is understandable that the experience affected their emotional and mental state.
“All we can think about is how much worse this situation could have been.”
A Durham Police spokesman said: “Officers are continuing to appeal for information and anyone who can help is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 543 of October 17.”
