Trump calls Liz Cheney ‘war hawk’, suggests she’ll face war zone herself – NBC 15 WPMI

Former President Donald Trump called Liz Cheney a “war hawk” Thursday night while doing an on-stage interview with former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson and suggested she should be sent to a war zone.

At the event in Glendale, Arizona, Carlson asked Trump if it was strange to see Cheney campaigning against him. Cheney, who supports his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, has been one of Trump’s most outspoken Republican critics since serving as the top Republican on the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot.

Trump responded by saying, “She is a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with the shotgun standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when guns are pointed at her face.’

You know they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, oh my God, okay, let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy,” Trump continued.

Trump also mentioned that he was surprised that former Vice President Dick Cheney supported Harris after he pardoned former chief of staff Scooter Libby for perjury.

“I don’t blame him for sticking up for his daughter, but his daughter is a very dumb person — very dumb,” the former president said.

In September, Cheney joined Harris for a series of moderated talks in several “blue wall” battleground states and said her background as a conservative meant she prioritized the Constitution over her political party and was concerned about not allowing ” totally erratic, totally unstable” for Trump to lead foreign policy.

She lost her Wyoming seat to a Trump-backed candidate two years ago.

Cheney responded to Trump’s X comments by saying, “This is how dictators destroy free nations.”

“They threaten those who speak against them with death,” she continues. “We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel unstable man who wants to be a tyrant.

Trump’s campaign told the Associated Press that he was “talking about how Liz Cheney wants to send America’s sons and daughters to fight in wars, even though she has never been in a war herself.”
