Jet Williams & Drew Gilbert Both Homer In AFL Action – metsmerizedonline.com

Mets prospects enjoyed strong outings in the Arizona Fall League on Thursday night as the Scottsdale Scorpions cruised to a 10-1 win over the Glendale Desert Dogs.

Williams crushed solo home runhis second in the AFL this year, out of the Cincinnati Reds prospect Arius Fransen in the bottom of the sixth. He also recorded an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth against the Philadelphia Phillies farmhand Wesley Moore.

after reaching base three times on Wednesday, Gilbert stayed on fire with a solo shot of his own against Fransen in the bottom of the seventh.

The two players have developed a strong bond throughout their time playing together, which Gilbert believes has benefited both of them.

“I mean we got to spend a lot of time around each other [this year]said Gilbert, according to Jesse Borek of MLB.com. “We’re just getting to know each other better. It’s nice to have someone you kind of load up on. It’s just good to have someone with the same mentality as you.

Williams echoed that sentiment, saying he hopes they can patrol together at the big league level in the near future.

“I think it’s great just to have someone who’s a lot like you,” Williams said. “I feel like we play the game a little bit differently. He’s crazier, I’m calmer. So I think it’s kind of perfect, like equalizing each other. But I think it would be great just to be able to play with him at Citi Field one day, hopefully next year.”

Ramirez had a perfect outing while striking out the side on 17 pitches. He was the only Mets prospect to come out Thursday after that Jonathan Pintaro (who left with a coach), Dylan Ross and Saul Garcia everything went the previous day.
