Vancouver Canucks forward JT Miller says the team needs to be better after the loss to the New Jersey Devils.
Halloween night was a ghostly night for the Vancouver Canucks as they fell to the New Jersey Devils 6-0. Devils captain Nico Hischier scored his league-leading 10th goal of the season, while former Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom scored 20 records to record the shutdown.
Understandably, there was a lot of frustration in the Vancouver Canucks locker room after the game, including from head coach Rick Tocchett, who wasn’t happy with his team’s coverage of strange player hits.
JT Miller says Vancouver Canucks need to be better
Vancouver Canucks forward JT Miller shared his frustrations when speaking to the media after the game. Miller said the Canucks are making it too easy for the other team and that they have yet to play a full 60 minutes to find their identity.
He added: “We haven’t played 60 Minutes on our identity yet this year.”
Miller also talked about Connor Garland stepping up and trying to ignite his team by dropping the gloves with New Jersey Devils forward Erik Haula. Miller said Garland did a great job in the scrimmage and that he would have thought the team would have fired up and played a little better after the tilt.
“(Garland) does an amazing job in that scrap, it was a hell of a fight,” Miller said. “You’d think maybe we’d play a little bit better after that… It sucks. You get hit in the head because of you and you think maybe that’s going to light (a fire under) the team.”
Miller and the Vancouver Canucks will look to bounce back Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks on Hockey Night in Canada.
