By Jim Lee and Troy Bales
As former superintendents, we appreciate that the voters of Paradise Valley Unified School District not only support PVUSD by approving bonds and overrides, but also by electing them to the Board of Trustees. As a whole, the community has elected people who have spent years volunteering in our district, learning about the opportunities and issues facing PVUSD, helping to create student-centered solutions in a collaborative, nonpartisan way. This year, you have a clear choice to do it again, and we encourage you to choose Anne Greenberg, Jessica Wani and Amanda Lim.
We worked tirelessly with Ann Greenberg, an award-winning author and business owner, and her diligent board service is an asset needed now more than ever. PVUSD has consistently benefited from her professionalism, knowledge, strategic thinking and willingness to listen and learn as she leads. A family lawyer specializing in child protection, Jessica Wani works closely with us through the United Parents’ Council and District Committees, and she is a strong advocate for increased funding for education. Her enthusiasm for the PV area and community is unparalleled. All three candidates are proud products of K-12 public schools, but Amanda Lim actually graduated from PVUSD. We were inspired by her journey as a student with learning disabilities who is now a successful biomedical researcher thanks to the foundation built in our schools, the schools she and her husband chose for their children.
These three will work hard with all stakeholders, not create division with inflammatory scenarios about non-existent issues. It is frankly troubling that the other candidates have demonstrated an extreme lack of understanding of the district and community, and the state of public education and funding in Arizona.
We urge you to vote for Greenberg, Wani and Lim – qualified and passionate leaders who will not play politics with PVUSD.
