The Housing First for Families surprise inspection took place over three days in September and assessed various aspects of the service.
The service, which was registered with the watchdog in January 2022, was found to be ‘very good’ in all areas assessed.
These areas include ‘how well we support people’s wellbeing’, ‘how good our leadership is’, ‘how good our staff are’ and ‘how well our care and support is planned’.
Provides support to families with children in the community who need help maintaining their rent and improving their lifestyle.
The inspection report highlighted the “consistent management and staff team” and praised the “experienced and skilled support staff”.
The report says: “The service approach emphasizes participation and respect for each person’s preferences and needs, which positively impacts short- and long-term health outcomes.”
The management of the service was also praised, with the report noting that “effective quality assurance measures and the proactive collection of feedback contribute to the improvement of the service”.
Staff are found to be experienced, well-researched and have access to ongoing training that helps them maintain supportive relationships with customers.
Their competence and dedication is said to be evident in positive customer interactions and feedback.
Care planning was also found to be of a high standard, with the report stating: “Individualized support plans, risk assessments and client involvement ensure care is aligned with their preferences and helps build trust and commitment .”
The report recognizes the service’s positive impact on the community by helping families maintain stable housing, promote healthier lifestyles and develop sustainable practices.
The report also highlighted the importance of consistent leadership and a strong team that has been in place since the service’s inception.
This consistency has contributed to the service’s strong reputation and reliability in the community.
The report concluded that the service received positive feedback from both clients and community professionals, highlighting the service’s role in supporting families, improving life stability and promoting positive health and social outcomes.
One professional described the service as “amazing”, while customers expressed appreciation for their support workers, stressing that they felt heard and respected.
There have been no complaints since the last inspection, indicating satisfaction with service standards and practices.
