Police arrest 20-year-old suspect in Tuesday night’s shooting – Winston-Salem Journal

Winston-Salem police have arrested a suspect in connection with Tuesday night’s shooting on Eldora Street and charged the man with murder.

Jamaree Desean Washington, 20, of East 15th Street in Winston-Salem, was arrested and charged Wednesday.

Washington is accused of killing Barry Deshon Jones, 31, of Eller Way in Winston-Salem.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at 420 Eldora St. around 6:35 p.m. Tuesday night.

They found a victim when they arrived, Jones, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Jones later died from his wounds.

Police say the shooting was an isolated incident and that Jones was specifically targeted by the suspect.

In a news release, police said Washington’s arrest was the result of an investigation by detectives.

According to court records, Washington is also charged with a felony count of resisting an officer investigating Jones’ murder.

Information in Washington’s arrest warrant states that he was on the run from police.

Washington is currently being held in the Forsyth County Jail with no bond granted.

Washington’s bond documents also say he has a pending gun charge in Guilford County.
