LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Ryan Elementary was filled with Halloween spirit on Thursday, Oct. 31 as students and teachers dressed up as their favorite characters, from movie stars to superheroes and spooky creatures. The school kicked off its annual Hero Parade with live music adding excitement to the celebration.
Laredo police officers also joined in the fun, dressing up to participate with the students. Officer Jose Espinosa offered safety tips for families planning to go trick-or-treating later in the evening. “If you’re going out, your children should always be accompanied by an adult,” he said. He also advised parents to check candies for safety before consumption and suggested that lovers carry flashlights when out at night to make sure they are visible to drivers.
Police stressed the need to cross on marked crosswalks and wear reflective clothing or accessories to stay safe. While students looked forward to the evening game, the event was a fun celebration of Halloween and a reminder for families to stay safe.
