Glendale welcomed Kimberly Hall as its new director of community services, as announced Oct. 31.
Hall spent decades serving vulnerable citizens. She brings decades of experience working for Goodwill Industries in multiple states. She assumes the role following the retirement of Jean Moreno from the City of Glendale after 30 years of service.
Moreno led the city’s recent presentation on options for relocating or renovating the Velma Teague Library branch at the Oct. 24 City Council workshop.
In this role, Hall will manage strategic planning, policy development, community funding and community engagement efforts to improve services for residents. She will lead a team of more than 110 people who manage programs including neighborhood revitalization, public housing, a community action program and library services.
“We are excited to have a proven leader step into the role of supporting the critical needs of our residents,” Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps said in a news release. “The direct impact this department has on our community is significant, and Kimberly brings not only years of professional experience, but years of experience leading organizations that serve the community in impactful ways.”
Most recently, Hall served as CEO of Goodwill Southern Los Angeles County. Previously, she led workforce development, disaster recovery efforts and service contracts for Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi.
“I am committed to strengthening the community by providing critical services that focus on education, infrastructure, housing and crisis support to expand access to economic opportunity for the entire community,” Hall said in the press release.
Hall holds a bachelor’s degree in human service management from the University of Phoenix and a master’s degree in leadership from Grand Canyon University.
Hall’s first day in town will be Nov. 12.
