A woman’s surprise after learning her boyfriend had complimented her with bread instead of her extravagant evening outfit has left viewers online reeling.
The woman, Felicity Irvine, shared a candid video of her fun after learning what really caught her partner’s eye on TikTok on October 16. The video, which shows Irvine trying on a long dress with her boyfriend gushing over what was later revealed to be food, has been viewed more than 1.4 million times. The post, shared under @felicityirv, sparked hilarious comments from viewers on the platform who wanted to join in on the fun.
Viewers online were able to see the 24-year-old creative modeling a floor-length burgundy dress, which she teamed with black high heels. As she showed off the dress on her selfie camera, her boyfriend could be heard saying “oh my god this is crazy” in the background. His excitement led Irvine, who is based in London, England, to believe he was complimenting her new look.
However, the carefree moment soon took an unexpected turn when Irvine learned the real reason for his friend’s reaction: freshly baked bread.
Text on the video reads: “It’s not me thinking he’s talking about me in that dress when he’s actually talking about the bread in the oven.”
“Humbled everyday,” Irvine added in the caption.
The creator, overflowing with interest in what her boyfriend was gushing about, shared a video of the fresh bread on TikTok on October 17.
“For all those who wanted a bread reveal,” she said as a humorous voice-over played against the video.
The post capturing the mishap has since been liked more than 114,000 times and garnered more than 50 comments from viewers online. While some shared their opinions on the creator’s outfit, most laughed along with Irvine and her partner about the misunderstanding.
“You look amazing [though]” one viewer posted. Another added: HAHAHAHAHAHA this is the realest thing on the internet.”
“Hahaha, it’s yours… He’s excited about the food. You win… Looking beautiful is a happy bonus. A man’s heart is through his stomach, with respect,” commented a third.
Another comment read: “Well he got no thanks from you so I’m even saying it.”
