The new-look Golden State Warriors have been doing pretty well so far in the 2024-25 NBA season, but some fans are still wondering how the team changed over the summer.
Many people still can’t believe that Klay Thompson is no longer with the Warriors.
Gilbert Arenas addressed Thompson’s departure on his show and said he felt “bad” for him, saying he deserved a new contract from the Warriors this summer.
Pointing out that Thompson actually shoots pretty well, he suggested that he should have been treated better by Golden State and that many teams would love to have a player like him.

Arenas reminded viewers that Thompson shot 38 percent from the three-point line and 43 percent from the field.
Those aren’t bad numbers by any means and should have led to more respect for Thompson, Arenas said.
Of course, that’s not the whole story behind his departure from the Warriors.
Thompson’s results on the court declined over the years and he did not shoot as well as expected.
For example, he made 41.2% of his 3-pointers during the 2022-23 season.
Also, there have been complaints about his defense and many have said he needs to work on being a better two-way player.
On top of all of that, it appeared that Thompson wasn’t very happy in Golden State and was unhappy with the contract offered by the team.
So it seemed the time had come for Thompson to say goodbye to the only team he had ever played for.
This has worked out well for both sides as the Warriors are playing better right now and Thompson is adjusting easily to the Dallas Mavericks.
Arenas said Thompson deserved more from Golden State, but seemed happy with his selection.
