Iconic American pop group head to Birmingham for reunion tour – Kidderminster Shuttle

The flamboyant pop-rockers will be heading to Birmingham to perform at The Utilita Arena on 25 May 2025.

It will be the first time in history that the trio of Jake Shears, Scott ‘Babydaddy’ Hoffman and Del Marquis will perform the band’s debut self-titled album in its entirety, in honor of the 20th anniversary.

The band have been on an indefinite hiatus since 2012, after telling a London audience at Camden Roundhouse that they were going “on hiatus”.

The band said Anna Matronic, whose real name is Anna Lynch, has “decided not to join the tour as she has other projects she is currently focusing on”, and another singer will be announced at a later stage.

Speaking about this announcement, Del Marquis said, “We’ve spent a lot of time collectively thinking about what we can add to our show that isn’t a ‘replacement’ for Ana in any way.

“She’s part of the spirit of this band and we want to honor that.”

Jake Shears added: “It’s the 20th anniversary of our debut album, so it really feels like the right time to revisit all the intense excitement from that moment.

“I think the impetus for this reunion was really a YouTube screening of Scissor Sisters: Live at The O2 that happened during isolation.

“I don’t think I’d seen that show since it was filmed in 2007, but we were all kind of surprised at how great it was.

“And chatting with fans at the screening really brought back how special a moment this was for all of us.”

The band, known for hits like “I Can’t Decide” and “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'” said many fan favorites will also be on the set list.

Babydaddy said: “There’s something really special about being a gay band, a queer band that really went mainstream with this album.

“We want to revisit that because 20 years ago there weren’t as many queer acts breaking through in this way.

“We really recognize that we did something pretty unique back then, just by presenting ourselves as queer people.”

“We brought queer culture into the mainstream at a time when there wasn’t a lot of it out there.”

They will kick off their tour in Nottingham on May 16 before heading to Glasgow, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Manchester, London, Leeds, Belfast and Dublin, as well as Birmingham.

Tickets go on sale next Friday 8th November from 9am.
