WAMPSVILLE, NY – Madison County EMS is celebrating one year of service this November as the ambulance agency that serves the city of Hamilton and parts of Lebanon and Brookfield.
On November 11, 2023, Madison County EMS responded to cover the Madison County Ambulance Corps station in the town of Hamilton.
Before Madison County EMS intervened, SOMAC announced that after 37 years of service to the community, it was ending EMS operations. Madison County EMS was there to meet the needs of the community. They have worked hard to immerse themselves in the community, continue to provide a high level of service, and continue the Colgate Student Volunteer program.
Madison County has also made many improvements to the station over the past year.
To celebrate one year of service, Madison County EMS invites the public to an open house where the public can meet our team of dedicated EMS professionals, tour the station and its upgrades, and enjoy refreshments and entertainment for all ages.
The event will be held on November 11 from 1pm to 4pm at the Hamilton Ambulance Station, 86 Lebanon St, Hamilton.
Last year, Madison County EMS ambulances and personnel responded to 945 calls. They operate three ambulances from Hamilton station and their staff includes part-time and full-time emergency doctors and paramedics and support three towns.
“Quality EMS service is a top priority for our agency and will continue to be for years to come,” said Madison County EMS Director Jenna Illingworth.
“We have been proud to serve Hamilton and the surrounding communities this past year,” she continued. “We grew up and had to adapt quickly and overcome many obstacles. With growth comes change and thanks to our team of dedicated staff, we have been able to meet these changes and expand as an agency and as individual providers. We look forward to serving this community for many years to come.”
Madison County EMS started as an ambulance program in February 2022 to help fill any coverage gaps throughout the county. In April 2023, it expanded to an ambulance agency and began serving the city of Lebanon. Madison County EMS still operates medical vehicles, along with ambulances, and provides a vital service to our residents and helps when needed.
“I am incredibly proud of the work that Jenna and her team have done in twelve short months,” said Dan DeGear, Madison County Director of Emergency Management Services. “There is a looming crisis in EMS that is impacting EMS delivery across the state, but through the efforts of Jenna and the team, along with the support of the Board of Supervisors, Madison County is being proactive and seeking solutions. We are proud to serve the Hamilton area with quality life-saving services and will continue to do so.”
