Third victim dead in Hialeah teen vehicular homicide case – iHeart

The double vehicular homicide case of a Hialeah teenager has been postponed because, unfortunately, a third victim has died.

Scott Kotler, 15-year-old Maicol Santisteban’s attorney, told the court Wednesday that he is not ready for trial because he expects the state to file another charge of first-degree murder in the third death.

Santisteban is accused of taking his parent’s car on a high-speed ride that led to a fatal crash that killed two women and injured a third, who later died.

Judge Christine Hernandez set a new trial date of February 10.

Santisteban is being tried as an adult and will remain behind bars while awaiting trial.

Before the third victim’s death, the state offered a plea deal of 10 years if the teenager expressed remorse. That deal was rejected and an additional charge of murder is now pending.
