Visit the Harvest Festival this weekend

Head down to New Roads this weekend, Friday November 1 to Sunday November 3, for the Harvest Festival.

The Harvest Festival offers a family atmosphere filled with food, rides and attractions while supporting the local farming community. There will be live bands performing throughout the weekend and the carnival will also be open throughout the weekend.

The musical lineup and hours of the carnival vary depending on the day. Participants age 15 and older can purchase tickets for $10 per day. Weekend passes are $20 per person. The Harvest Festival takes place on the main street in New Roads. Parking can be found at the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board office at 337 Napoleon St. and on side streets. Listen to live music on Fridays

Head to The Queen Baton Rouge on Friday, November 1 to see Shaun Ward perform: The DJ vs. The Violinist.

Enjoy this high-octane show while seated on plush chairs and sofas. During the event, 1717 Kitchen + Cocktails will serve bites and craft cocktails for purchase.

Consider yourself “booked” for a festival Saturday

Visit downtown Baton Rouge for the Louisiana Book Festival all day on Saturday, November 2nd.

Meet a host of writers, find new books to read, and participate in thought-provoking presentations and discussions. The annual event is the perfect opportunity to get one of your favorite books signed or find an undiscovered treasure to add to your bookshelf.

Start an early pregame for the Tigers on Saturday

Get ready to rush to Walk-On’s Field for the Beat Bama Glow Party & Car Show on Saturday, November 2nd.

Wear neon clothing to be illuminated under the black light while listening to live music. Live music acts include DJ Dylan Wayne, Lauren Lee Band, Chase Tyler Band and Kings of Neon. A car show will be hosted by Southern Muscle – American Car & Truck Club.

Create a stamp on Sunday

Visit the LSU Museum of Art on Sunday, November 3rd for all-day access: printing and panel discussion.

Get the chance to learn about different print styles and create your own original print to take home with you after this event.

Visit the Cap City Beer Fest on Sunday

Head to downtown Baton Rouge on Sunday, November 3rd for the Cap City Beer Fest in support of the Companion Animal Alliance.

Guests can sample unlimited drinks and snacks from a selection of vendors and food trucks. If you’re not much of a beer drinker, there will be seltzers, meads, kombuchas and soft drinks available. There will be lawn games, such as Jenga Giant and cornhole, plus there will be live music. Fluffy friends are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

Cap City Beer Fest is from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This event is free, but you must purchase tickets for those 21 and older who wish to participate in the beer tasting. Share your story with StoryCorps starting this weekend

StoryCorps is partnering with WRKF Baton Rouge Public Radio to present its Baton Rouge Mobile Tour from Sunday, November 3rd through Sunday, November 10th.

Recordings will take place in person at the main library at Goodwood or remotely via the StoryCorps virtual recording booth. Interview a loved one, share your personal or family story, or honor the people who have inspired you.
