BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) – A new hospital could open in Livingston Parish in 2027.
Baton Rouge General plans to build the facility on Juban Road at I-12 in Denham Springs.
BRG said “plans for the 40,000-square-foot facility include a 14-bed emergency department and a 12-bed inpatient hospital, outpatient services such as imaging and laboratory, and physician practices.”
They said the land for the hospital was purchased in 2023.
BRG must receive approval from the Livingston Parish Planning Commission. Once that happens, “first sod is tentatively scheduled for early 2025, and opening is slated for 2027,” BRG said.
The project is currently in the design stage, but once completed, the hospital will be open every day.
The town of Livingston could be getting a new pet shelter as residents see more stray animals
“We know Livingston Parish residents want more health care options, especially emergency and hospital services, that are closer to home,” said BRG President and CEO Edgardo Tenreiro. “We also know that a neighborhood hospital that is faster and easier to navigate is better for patients and we believe this concept will be great for people in and around Livingston Parish.”
BRG now has a primary care location in Denham Springs and Livingston as well.
According to BRG, their hospitals saw 15,000 Livingston Parish patients in 2023.
