Police to close three streets in downtown Winston-Salem Saturday for Veterans Day parade – Winston-Salem Journal

Winston-Salem’s annual Veterans Day Parade will be held downtown on Saturday.

The parade route will begin at 10 a.m. on West Fourth Street near Spring Street, according to a city document. The parade will then proceed to South Liberty Street and end on Liberty Street near West First Street.

Winston-Salem’s parade is organized nine days before National Veterans Day to allow local veterans to attend the Nov. 11 events, said Alex Nelson, event organizer.

Winston-Salem police will close three streets between 8 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. Saturday for the parade, police said.

Fourth Street will be closed between Broad Street and Main Street, police said. Svoboda Street between Fifth Street and First Street will be closed.

First Street between Main Street and Cherry Street will be closed, police said.

Drivers traveling through those areas are encouraged to find alternate routes to ease traffic, police said.

Residents in those areas should plan to avoid access to their vehicles restricted by the closure, police said. No vehicles will be allowed on the closed roads.
