By james art A topless woman who was running and then lying down in the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway in Irvine was fatally struck by a car on Saturday evening, October 19.
A witness told the California Highway Patrol that at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, a shirtless woman wearing camouflage shorts attempted to flee across the southbound lanes, then return to the right shoulder just north of the Culver Boulevard exit .
Additional reports indicated that she was running northbound in the southbound lanes and walking in the middle lanes and that she was lying in one lane.
At 9:01 p.m., the CHP reported that a pedestrian had been hit by a white Tesla in the middle lanes.
Officials at the scene requested a SigAlert at 9:06 p.m. to close four of the six southbound lanes.
The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene at 9:18 p.m
