MADISON — While Donald Trump was campaigning with Packers legend Brett Favre in Green Bay, Kamala Harris was a few hours south, getting together in Madison with the Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team.
When Harris walked into the Alliant Energy Center, she was greeted by the Badgers and Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers.
As Harris hugged each player, they gasped. Harris told them it was good to meet them and that they had an amazing team.
One of the players could be heard telling her: “You’re so beautiful.”
Wisconsin (15-4) is ranked seventh in the nation and is undefeated at 8-0 at home.
A banner on stage read “Badgers for Harris-Waltz,” showing how important youth voting is, as UW and Madison students as a whole have voted at incredibly high rates recently.
Harris continued to emphasize unity and common ground, expanding on her keynote speech Tuesday in Washington, where she laid out what her team called the “closing argument” of her campaign.
“I don’t want to score political points,” the vice president said. “I’m trying to make progress.”
