BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Police in Birmingham say Braylen Hardy died after being hit by a car over the weekend.
BPD says they have identified and questioned the driver of the car, but he has not been taken into custody and has not been charged at this time.
“We will pursue available charges in this investigation,” BPD said. “Once you find that the driver did not hit someone intentionally, the investigator has to prove what facts in that crash make this a crime and not just an accident with only a future civil suit.”
Birmingham City Schools released the following statement Wednesday:
WBRC contacted Birmingham police to confirm the child’s age. We’ll update this story when we get more information.
