BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) — A man wanted on charges of battery and violating a protective order was arrested Wednesday after a standoff with the U.S. Marshals Mid-Louisiana Fugitive Task Force and other law enforcement agencies.
Chief Deputy Josh Reich of the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed that 24-year-old Joshua Cryer was arrested after barricading himself in his room at the Crown Efficiency Extended Stay on Airline Highway.
According to an arrest warrant, Cryer is wanted by the Baton Rouge Police Department in connection with an incident in September in which he allegedly hit the mother of his children over the head with a pot.
Reich said Cryer began making threats toward himself and the team secured the perimeter before calling in the BRPD SWAT team. The stay was about three hours.
Reich confirmed that Cryer shot himself and was taken from the scene by ambulance.
