Baton Rouge hits latest record high of 90 degrees – WBRZ

An all-time record fell on Wednesday when Metro Airport recorded its latest 90-degree temperature on record. Previously, the most recent date in a calendar year to reach 90 degrees was October 27 — set earlier this year and in 1907.

As of Saturday, four (of a possible five) record high temperatures have been tied or broken. A number of additional temperature records will be threatened in late October and early November. Saturday through Wednesday will all be within a degree or two of sustained record high temperatures. Thursday through Tuesday will all be within a degree or two of record warm lows.

October 2024 is on track to be among the five warmest on record with a monthly average temperature of 73.9 degrees through Tuesday. The hottest October was in 1919 with an average temperature of 78.2 degrees. A little rain in the Halloween forecast could prevent October 2024 from also being one of the ten driest on record.
