Hialeah Police Department has partnered with ICE against the background of community fears – Iheart

Hialeah, FL – Hyalia Police Department has officially concluded an agreement with 287 (g) with US Immigration and Customs Implementation (ICE), allowing some local employees to receive training to support federal immigration.

This move comes as part of a broader impetus for Florida MPs to tighten immigration policies throughout the country.

According to the program 287 (g), the designated employees in the department will undergo specialized training for identification and processing of persons marked for potential disorders of immigration.

Governor Ron Ronn Hoard has expanded this initiative, with all Florida County Sheriff’s offices now being involved in some capacity.

During a recent meeting of the Municipal Council of Hyalai, employees defended the decision, emphasizing that the agreement would not change daily law enforcement operations.

The chief of hyaliah, George Fuente, explained that the agreement gives access to the ICE federal database, which listed persons with exceptional immigration disorders.

Employees selected for the program will be trained to follow federal protocols when processing cases involving non -iconic.

Hialeah is one of several cities in South Florida, including Coral Gables, Davie, Sunny Isles and Gardens Palm Beach, to sign such agreements.

Florida is now leading the nation in local law enforcement agencies, collaborating ICE through program 287 (G).

City leaders have reiterated that the agreement aims to focus on persons who pose a risk of public safety rather than indiscriminately target immigrants.
