Jane Julian Onsrud87, of Davidson, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024. Born September 20, 1937 in Winston-Salem, NC, she was the beloved daughter of the late William Alexander Julian Sr. and Novella Kirkman Julian.

Jane is a lifelong learner, earning a degree from UNC-Greensboro Women’s College and sharing her passion for knowledge with young minds as a dedicated third grade teacher for many years.

Jane was blessed with deep and abiding love as she was married for 50 years to her soulmate, Charles Rudolph Onsrud, who predeceased her in 2021. Together they built a life centered around family, faith and community. As a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Statesville, NC, Jane’s faith was her compass, and her warm spirit and kind heart touched all who knew her. Jane was actively involved in her community, devoting her time and energy to several charities, most notably the American Heart Association, where she was honored with several awards for her efforts. She also enjoyed serving the local community through her volunteer work with the Board of Elections. In addition to her charitable efforts, Jane found happiness in the simple pleasures. She loved spending time at Lake Norman and the beach with her friends and family, enjoyed her weekly games of Rummikub and Bridge, and enjoyed social gatherings with her many dear friends.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. Jane leaves behind a legacy of love through her sons Tom Onsrud (Shelley) of Mooresville, Bill Onsrud (Betty) of Mooresville and John Onsrud (Amelia) of Union Grove. Her grandchildren, Alison Strickland (Michael), Jeff Onsrud (Jennifer), Kelly Staton (Jordan), David Onsrud (Marina), James Onsrud and Nancy Onsrud, will forever carry the memory of their “Nana” in their hearts. She was a proud “Gran” to Charlie and Jack Strickland, Eva and Harrison Onsrud and Elsie Onsrud. Jane also cherished her relationships with her sisters-in-law, Chloris Julian, Carol Julian and Carolyn O’Brien, and found great joy in spending time with Tracy Schultz (Mike), Ashley Rohats (Danielle), Shane Julian, Mark Julian (Melissa), Susan Lind (Jim, deceased) and her many nieces, nephews and great-nieces, all of whom she adored.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by her brothers, William “Buddy” Julian Jr. and Van Julian, and a nephew, David Julian, but their memory lives on through her stories and shared laughter.

Jane’s family invites friends and family to a celebration of her life at First Presbyterian Church in Statesville, NC on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jeremy Canada officiating. Following the service, the family will welcome friends to a reception at the Statesville Country Club from 3 to 5 p.m., where all are welcome to share their memories and celebrate Jane’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org/Charlotte or by mail to 5445 77 Center Drive, Suite 60, Charlotte, NC 28217.
