Baton Rouge – Five students in the capital were among 24 finalists for students of the year in Louisiana, the Ministry of Education reported on Tuesday.
Zoey Jenkins from Parkview Primary School in parish east Baton Rouge, Kai Ava-Jrew Butler from Brusly Upper Elementary School and Krishawndalyn Louise Rian Clark from Port Allen High School in the parish of West Baton Rouge were declared finalists of the fifth grade.
Briel Posch ‘from Gonzalez Secondary School is named for eighth grade and Marley McLlan of Holland High School has been declared a finalist for grade 12.
According to the Ministry of Education, students are selected on the basis of criteria that measure academic achievements, leadership skills, nature and service of their schools and communities.
