Birmingham to host free Harvest Fest event Oct. 31 – Alabama news anchor

The City of Birmingham will host a Harvest Festival on Thursday 31st October.

The free event will be held in front of City Hall from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. The city said children ages 2 to 12 are welcome and costumes are encouraged.

The event, hosted by Mayor Randall Woodfin, the Birmingham Youth Services Department and other community partners, will include rides, face painting, games, a petting zoo, pony rides, food trucks, a DJ and more.

Free parking will be available in the Boutwell Auditorium parking deck from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The city said drivers should enter the deck via 19th Street North. Several volunteer groups, including some members of the UAB football team, will be on hand to hand out candy.

The activities will take place on parts of Boulevard Rev. Abraham Woods Jr., Park Place and Short 20th Street North.

In preparation for the event, the city said several road sections will be closed Thursday.

Wednesday, October 30:

Park Place will close at 5 p.m., from Short 20th to the section where the library’s Linn Henley Building begins. It will remain closed on October 31.

Short 20th in front of City Hall will close at 5pm. It will remain closed on October 31st.

Thursday, October 31:

Bul. Rev. Abraham Woods Jr., from 19th Street north to Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard, will close at 10 a.m. People parking in the Boutwell deck will still have access to the deck via 19th Street North.
