LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Ahead of Halloween festivities, districts are gearing up for activities happening on their campuses.
While United ISD does not have Halloween-related activities, throughout the week students participated in various fall activities such as Accelerated Reader or Red Ribbon Week.
Only some UISD campuses will allow students to dress up.
As for Laredo ISD, only elementary school students are allowed to wear costumes.
However, both districts ask students to wear things that are easy to move around in, without masks or paint covering their faces.
According to UISD’s Brenda Medina, “We ask that parents send an extra pair of clothing, such as the uniform, so that children can easily change their costumes if they wish.”
LISD’s Dr. Oscar Perez also mentioned, “No costumes that have things like sharp objects. And of course, nothing that would indicate any dangerous information being released to the community.
Both districts say parents who are unhappy with the activities being held tomorrow can opt out for their children.
