LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – On Tuesday afternoon, October 30, a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) manhunt ended with the discovery of 11 undocumented people, including two children, found in the trunk of a car. The pursuit began in the area of Mines Road and ended on San Bernardo Avenue when DPS blocked the car.
Some of the migrants have minor injuries and have been taken to hospital. DPS Sgt. Eric Estrada noted that human smuggling cases often increase during the holidays and election season.
The driver has been arrested and may be charged with human smuggling. The DPS has not yet released the name of the driver.

A pursuit ended in a crash with children found in the truck.
The pursuit by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) ended just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, at the intersection of Chicago Street and San Bernardo Avenue. Border police were also at the scene.
The DPS reported that children were found in the truck involved in the accident. The emergency teams arrived to help the victims.
Witnesses saw people being put on gurneys and loaded into ambulances. Police were at the scene directing traffic while the cleanup took place.
