Flu cases continue to hit Wisconsin – WMSN FOX 47 Madison

Madison, wis. – You may have negotiated the flu or know someone who has this flu season. This is something consistent in Wisconsin and the rest of the country, with experts saying that this has been the oldest flu season for nearly a decade.

According to CDC, Wisconsin is one of many conditions with moderately high to very high flu.

And the latest numbers from the UW-Health show of February 4-18, they had 100 confessions of the flu. Twenty -eight of them have been hospitalized since last week.

Speaking to an expert, they say the hearth can be attributed to the trip at the end of the year of 2024.

“Remember the holidays again a few months ago. Do you know we had an epic type of record levels of travel and had a bunch of vulnerable people traveling here and everywhere. Very few people carrying masks or take protective measures,” said Dr. Jim Konway , Medical Director of UW-Health Immunization Program.

And the Wisconsin Ministry of Health Services says only one -third of Wisconsin residents have received at least one dose of the flu vaccine. Something that Dr. Conway says can play a factor in the number of cases.

“Quite critical, especially for people who are in situations with high-risk situations. The same risk factors, whether it is an older age or major immunological problems or basic medical conditions, are the same things that create you for bad results with Flu, “he said.

The tension causing the most problems has connections to the condition of the dam.

“The prevailing strain is influenza A. 2009 H1N1, identified mainly here in Wisconsin. So in many places around the world they actually call it Wisconsin. Flu A. Tension A.”
