VA Medical Center in North Las Vegas temporarily closes operating rooms – News3LV

The VA Medical Center in North Las Vegas will temporarily close its operating rooms later this year to complete some needed upgrades.

A spokesman says the operating theaters will be closed from November 12 to December 22 for minor construction and to replace end-of-life equipment.

The closure was planned for the end of the year to minimize the impact on veteran patients. Only a small number of routine and elective surgeries were previously scheduled for this period, according to the VA.

“VA is committed to renewing and modernizing our infrastructure whenever possible to ensure we have the latest technology and equipment to meet the needs of veterans seeking care locally,” said Michael Keefer, Acting executive director of the VA’s Southern Nevada Health Care System. statement. “As part of this commitment, there are times when we must make short-term adjustments to our day-to-day operations to support long-term goals and results.”

During the closure, all urgent and urgent surgical care will be arranged outside the facility.

Special procedures that can be performed outside of operating rooms will also be expanded during this period, and surgical staff will expand clinic schedules to accommodate more patient appointments and pre-operative consultations.
