By james art President Trump has campaigned like no Republican before him in the 21st century. This Sunday, October 28, he held a massive rally at the iconic Madison Square Garden venue in the deep blue city of New York, New York. The 19,500 capacity was packed with tens of thousands in line eager to get in.
Among those present were MEPs from the newly formed Patriots for Europe political group in the European Parliament. The new faction was founded by the leader of the Fidesz party and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, together with Herbert Kickl, the chairman of the Austrian Freedom Party, and Andrej Babis, the former Czech prime minister and chairman of the ANO party after the 2024 European Parliament elections.
Patriots for Europe posted a video on their X page (formerly Twitter) about the spectacular event. In it, several MEPs from the patriots talk about why they are at the rally.
Jorge Buxade of Spain’s VOX party said they came to Trump’s event “just a few days before his big win.” Anna Brylka of Poland’s Ruch Narodowy party says Donald Trump wants to solve in the United States the same problems Europe faces: illegal immigration, economic stagnation and assumptions about climate policy. Harald Vilimski, a representative of Austria’s right-wing populist party FPÖ, explains:
“Over 100,000 guests in the heart of New York, [at] Madison Square Garden and our group of patriots is invited. why are we here Because we are also against globalization, we are against war, we are against fake news because we want to stand up to the lies of the left media and because we are for a better future where our countries have a better future away from illegal immigration and where decision-making power falls back into the hands of the population concerned,’ said the Austrian MEP.
Ondřej Knotek of the Czech ANNO 2011 party also shared a short message in support of current Republican presidential candidate and former president Donald Trump.
Tamas Deutsch of Hungary’s Fidesz party also appears in the video, saying:
“‘Making America Great Again’ is President Trump’s agenda, his goal. It is no coincidence that the motto of the Hungarian Presidency [of the Council of the EU] is “Making Europe Great Again”. If America is great and Europe is great, cooperation between the two can only bring good things.
The issue of the disingenuous, liberal mainstream media that MEP Vilimski mentions in the video also came up in the case of President Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden.
Some in the American media tried to make a connection between this event and an event by pro-Nazi German Americans in February 1939 simply because it was held at the same location. Never mind the fact that other presidential candidates and presidents, such as John F. Kennedy and Franklin Roosevelt, have appeared in the same place. Also, as most Americans know, music acts around the world consider it a great honor to play at this venue. Music legends such as Frank Sinatra, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and, more recently, Billy Joel, Andrea Bocelli and Billie Eilish have performed at MSG before. But facts apparently don’t matter to those suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
