With Halloween around the corner, regional officials are urging Durham residents to be safe with their decorations.
In a post to X (formerly Twitter), officials urged residents to be careful with their decorations, making sure they don’t overstimulate potentially sensitive trick-or-treaters.
Those venturing into the brightest Halloween displays should, according to Durham Region:
- Avoid lights that use a constant light effect.
- Make sure that all audio effects do not use loud noises.
- Manually activate the decorations when guests arrive
Get ready to boo-gee! 👻 When setting up your Halloween decorations, try to avoid flashing lights and sudden, loud noises, or consider making your decorations manually so you can activate them when you know guests will enjoy them. #HalloweenSafety #AccessibleDurham pic.twitter.com/QrBtzuUXC8
