October 21, 2024 – Kennewick, Washington. – The Western Hockey League announced its weekly player awards for the week ending Oct. 20, and American forward Gavin Garland was named the league’s Rookie of the Week. Garland, from Calgary, Alberta, had five points on the weekend with a goal and four assists, helping the Americans win both games. October 21, 2024 – Portland, OR – The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club announced today, October 21st, the reassignment of goaltender Luke Brunen, 18, to the Melville Millionaires of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). The 6-foot-3, 192-pound netminder appeared in 13 games for Portland over two seasons. In his first WHL season in 2023-24, he appeared in 11 contests, stopping a total of 203 shots on net. October 21, 2024 – WENATCHEE, Wash. – The Wenatchee Wild had to dig deep to finish their weekend with a Western Hockey League contest on Sunday against the Vancouver Giants. Sunday’s game was the third in three nights for the Wild, arriving home from a trip to Kamloops, British Columbia in the wee hours of Sunday morning and taking on a Vancouver Giants team that had beaten the Prince Albert Raiders 10-1 the night before.
