Oppo brings back its Reno Academy for 2024 and AI is on the agenda – Stuff South Africa – Stuff Magazine

The 2024 edition of Oppo Reno Academy offers aspiring photographers and content creators a chance to hone their skills, this time backed by the power of artificial intelligence. In an age where smartphones capture everyday moments, the smartphone maker aims to turn these tools into portals to professional success. The Academy provides participants with hands-on workshops, expert-led sessions and access to advanced AI tools through an accessible online platform.

Oppo-rtunity is knocking

The initiative is Oppo’s opportunity to nurture local talent and innovation. Led by photographer Craig House, the 2024 curriculum focuses on mastering AI-powered tools: the AI eraser, teaching students how and why to remove unwanted elements from an image; AI Smart Imaging teaches photographers intelligent processing to get the best out of a photo; and how AI Magic Studio helps students unlock the full potential of AI effects and editing tools.

These are all Oppo products, of course. The program is open to Reno12 Pro owners who are passionate about photography and aims to help hobbyists and enthusiasts better understand their tools. Participants have access to online content such as interactive modules, hands-on exercises and live Q&A sessions with Howes. Academy graduates will receive a course completion certificate.

Since its launch in 2022, Reno Academy has empowered new talent and fostered innovation in the creative industry. By combining AI technology with smartphone photography, the program aligns with the brand’s mission to enhance consumer creativity. Purely for altruistic reasons, we’re sure.

“Many smartphone users have the passion, but sometimes lack the practical knowledge to convert theirs
skills into a successful career,” says Avashney Moodley, Head of Marketing at Oppo South Africa. Graduates will leave the program with more than technical skills. They will also learn how to build their ventures – whether starting a photography business or monetizing content. Applications for Reno Academy 2024 are now open.
