A look at the boil water advisory timeline, what happened and where we are now – KGNS

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – The city of Laredo has officially lifted its boil water advisory, ending advisories that lasted nearly a week and a half.

It first started on Thursday, October 10, when the city of Laredo issued a boil water notice for the entire city.

During the consultations, the city went through major changes and developments.

Including the resignation of the Assistant Director of Utilities, Arturo Garcia, as well as the Governor of Texas declaring a state of emergency in Webb County.

More progress was made when a partial boil water notice was issued for residents and businesses served by the El Pico treatment plant.

After the latest round of tests, city officials said the latest tests showed no signs of harmful bacteria, including E. coli, in the water.

It all came to an end on Monday, October 21, when Mayor Dr. Trevino lifted the notice shortly before noon.

Officials say the water is now safe to drink, but acknowledge that this is only the first step in addressing the city’s water problems.
