The I rely on The 34-year-old star offered an inside look at the process of installing all the finishes in her kitchen, which she’s renovating with new husband Stephen Wiseman, in a YouTube video shared on Sunday, October 20.
She begins the update by showing footage taken before she married Wissmann last August, including the cabinets just starting to take shape, and explaining how their current makeshift kitchen works.
“So since our kitchen looks like this,” she says as she pans the camera around the empty space, “this becomes our kitchen.” She lands on their temporary installation, which is equipped with a frying pan, coffee maker and utensils.
“I cook my food in here and we end up doing all the dishes in here,” she adds, walking into the bathroom where she washes and dries everything. “I’m so ready to have an actual working kitchen again. We hope to have it done within a week or so.”

The video then cuts to her filling large gaps above the cabinets with wood filler as she talks about the renovation process.
“They say you do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. It’s so true. When I work on projects like this, I really feel in my element. I love the challenge of expanding my skill set and figuring out how to do new things.”
She continues: “All the work and effort feels extra rewarding this time because this will be the home Stephen and I will live in together after we get married. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
Before painting the cabinets, Duggar explains how her now-husband has done commercial painting jobs in the past, so he’s adept at using a sprayer. She also notes how his parents came to help and that “having those extra hands really helped speed up the process.”
The “perfect” color they chose, Duggar previously noted, was an “affordable beige.”

The countertops arrive and are bolted into place, and Duggar reveals the “modern and simple” gold hardware she’ll put on the drawers.
She then reflected on how difficult the process of renovating a home is, but how it will be worth it in the long run.
“Fitting in a whole new kitchen was definitely a huge undertaking, especially since we did a lot of the work ourselves with the help of family and friends. But it’s so rewarding to see this project come together,” she says.
“I imagine it will be much more meaningful to use this space in the years to come, remembering all the hard work and effort we put into making this space what it is.”
