The city of Ajax is among the municipalities that receive funding from the province for housing construction.
The city is receiving $4 million through the Ontario Build Faster Fund (BFF).
The funding recognizes the city’s 2023 housing census, in which they achieved 90 percent of their provincial goal of 1,247 units.
Mayor Sean Collier issued the following statement:
“On behalf of Ajax Council, I am pleased to share that the city will receive over $4 million through the Ontario Build Faster Fund (BFF), recognizing the city’s efforts to develop a mix of housing types.
This funding recognizes our 2023 housing numbers where we have reached 90% of our provincial target (1,247 units). We appreciate Minister Paul Calandra working closely with Minister Sean Fraser and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) to confirm the city’s eligibility for this funding.
With this financial support, we can invest in the necessary infrastructure to provide more housing options in Ajax.
Ajax Council remains committed to playing our part in responding to the housing crisis by working with all partners to deliver on our commitment to 17,000 housing units by 2031.”
