Couple facing multiple drug charges in Limestone Co. – WAFF

LIMESTONE CO., Ala. (WAFF) – Two people were arrested following a drug bust in Athens on Monday.

The Limestone County Criminal Investigation Division, Narcotics Division and SWAT team executed a search warrant at a home on Beech St.

The warrant was the result of CID and narcotics investigators working together to investigate a fentanyl overdose death.

During the search, investigators found drugs and drug paraphernalia at the home where Darryl Johnson, 49, and Tarika Gilbert, 34, were being held.

Johnson was charged with Trafficking in Drugs – Fentanyl, Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana – 2nd Degree.

Gilbert was charged with Trafficking in Drugs – Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana – 2nd Degree.

Bond is not set on either Johnson or Gilbert.
