MADISON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE:
Madison County, Tennessee – On October 28, 2024 at approximately 5:45 pm, officers with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 200 block of Cotton Grove Road in reference to a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries.
Caller reported they observed a crashed vehicle in a wooded area off Cotton Grove Road. Officers and emergency medical teams arrived at the scene and found a driver with injuries. Medical personnel and paramedics then attempted to treat the driver; however, the driver was found to have suffered an apparent gunshot wound. The driver was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division responded and processed the scene. In addition to the driver, the preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle may have been occupied by at least one passenger who was not present at the scene. CID is in the process of searching the area and seeking additional information, including video or other evidence or witnesses.
Investigators interviewed a witness who observed two black males walking west on Cotton Grove Road around 5:30 p.m., which was adjacent to the scene and just prior to the initial call reporting this incident. The first man is described as about 16-20 years old, 5′-8″ to 5’10” tall, dark, stocky, with an “Afro” haircut; dressed in dark clothes. The second male is described as possibly 16-17 years old, 5′-5” – 5′-6” tall, medium complexion, medium build, also wearing dark clothing.
The deceased person has been identified as Tyshawn Abram, an 18-year-old black male from Jackson, Tennessee.
