A High Point man was arrested for driving while impaired and striking a patrol car on a highway Sunday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Around 8:31 p.m., an officer was assisting with traffic control on I-74 East near mile marker 63 in Forsyth County after a crash in the area.
The officer was in the patrol car using the cruiser’s emergency lights and blocking the right lane.
But a vehicle driven by Joshua Aaron Wilder, 28, of High Point, allegedly failed to yield and struck the front left side of the patrol car and continued moving while his vehicle with disability did not stop at the right shoulder, the announcement said.
Wilder was charged with driving while impaired. No injuries were reported to Wilder.
The officer was treated at the scene by EMS as a precaution, but was not seriously injured.
