RENO, Nev. (KOLO) — Reno moviegoers will have one less theater to enjoy movies on the big screen. The Century Riverside Theater is set to close its doors on November 14. The theater caters to those who live near downtown and in the northwest.
The property is being sold and the theater may or may not be part of that sale. Until a buyer is found, we won’t know if there is interest in keeping the theater open.
“I think there’s a lot of concern about what’s going on at this site. We had a tenant — we had a buyer for this property who had big visions for the site. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, they are no longer moving forward with this project,” said Brian McArdle, City of Reno Revitalization Manager.
McArdle says the city is watching this process closely. He adds that the property is prime real estate because it is right along the Truckee River.
