RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Reno moviegoers will have one less theater to enjoy the big screen
The Riverside Theater is scheduled to close its doors on November 14, 2024. The theater caters to those who live near downtown and those in the northwest of the city. It is also known as a theater where lesser known films are screened.
The property is being sold and the theater may or may not be part of that sale.
Until a buyer is found, we won’t know if there is interest in the theater remaining on the property.
“I think there’s a lot of concern about what’s going on at this site,” said Brian McArdle, revitalization manager for the city of Reno. “We had a tenant. We had a buyer for this property who had big visions for the site. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, they no longer continue with this project.
McArdle says the city is watching the process closely.
He says the property is prime real estate because it’s right along the river and the businesses that move there can feed downtown restaurants, which the movie theater did.
