Madison man charged with hate crimes after parking space dispute – WMTV

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Officers with the Madison Police Department arrested a 24-year-old man Monday after he allegedly went after his neighbor with an iron during a fight over a parking space.

MPD explained in their report that they responded around 12:10 a.m. to an apartment building along the 1800 block of Helene Parkway.

Police noted that the suspect damaged the entrance to the apartment building and a vehicle while using the weapon. He also allegedly used racial slurs during the argument.

MPD said the Madison man was arrested and taken to the Dane County Jail. He faces charges of disorderly conduct while armed and criminal damage to property. Both charges have a hate crime enhancement.
