San Bernardino, California (TCN) – Police have announced the arrests of five people who have allegedly participated in a plot to hire to hire against a “controversial divorce” between the victim and one of the suspects.
The investigation began on January 10 shortly before noon, when police officers in San Bernardino received a call to shoot at West Mill Street 400. When officers arrived, they discovered that Jessenia Torres had died of obvious firearms. Police first believe that her death may be part of a robbery, but investigators have learned that she has been killed in a supposedly “calculated plot of murder.”
The surveillance footage shared by the San Bernardino Police Department at a press conference on Tuesday showed that Torres was going to his SUV Mercedes in a parking lot out of business. When she opened her door, another car got up and a masked man got out. The man and Torres had a conversation, then he pulled out a gun and started chasing it around his car and shooting at it. Torres pulled away, but was eventually struck while trying to run inside for safety. The paramedics pronounce her at the deceased at the scene.
A parking observer shared the information on the suspect registration plates, and later the vehicle was found abandoned at Walmart. The suspects changed clothes and exchanged cars, but within hours, police identified the alleged shooter like 31-year-old Gerardo Lamas-Toros and the escape driver like 54-year-old Arnold Ruelas. The evidence inside the vehicle has also led investigators to additional suspects.
Police investigators in San Bernardino conducted supervision in Los Angeles and Bakersfield, and the two men were arrested on January 16th. Officials found large sums of money and other evidence, which is alleged to associate them with the crime.
According to the police department, the detectives “revealed a deeper conspiracy” and learned that Ruelas’s younger brother, Raynaldo Ruelas, claims to have served as an average man between Ruelas and Lamas-Tresor and the alienated husband of Torres, Sergio stands out. Reveles business partner, Juan Perez, is also said to have participated in the story.
Det. Dominic Martinez said at a press conference that detectives were revealing money and firearms at every suspect’s home, adding that there was “a huge amount of evidence that it was a hired murder case”. Police eventually seized 16 firearms, including semi -automatic rifles and over $ 250,000 in cash.
Torres and revelations have been reported to have been a divorce for about two years. The couple owned several businesses in different cities in southern California and had millions of dollars assets. Martinez claims that the suspects have lurked Torres for several months leading to a fatal meeting. Their divorce was not finalized until she was killed.
The District Prosecutor’s Office of San Bernardino County has accused all five suspects of murder, including special circumstances of robbery, financial profit and waiting in anticipation. They all pleaded guilty and behaved without guarantee.
